Here’s some DIY inspiration from the 1940s. “Make Do and Mend needn’t at all be unfashionable. Listen to what you can do,” says the narrator in this British service announcement from World War II. Clothing rationing was very strict in the UK and the U.S. during the war, with fabric in short supply. This video shows how repurposing old clothes and making use of scrap cloth and old linens can create quite the daper new dress. -
